Dwayne Johnson Gives Update on Mom After Her Car Crash: She’s ‘Doing Good’

Days after his mother was injured in a late-night vehicle accident, Dwayne Johnson has a hopeful update on her condition.

Johnson, 50, said to Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet of the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday that his mother Ata Johnson, 74, is “doing good” in the wake of the crash, about which he originally posted details on Instagram last Thursday.

Johnson told the source that he received a call in the middle of the night informing him of his mother’s accident.

“I received that call at three in the morning,” the Black Adam actor remarked. “You know when my phone rings at 3 a.m. and it’s a family member, it’s not good.”At the 2023 Grammy Awards, Adele and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson share a sweet moment during their first meeting.

Johnson revealed the circumstances of his mother’s car accident on Instagram last Thursday. He posted a picture of a severely damaged red car with the caption, “My mother was in the car.”

Johnson captioned the photo, saying, “Angels of mercy watched over my mom as she was in a car crash late last night.” “She’ll survive and continue to get evaluated.”

He went on to commend his mother’s tenacity, saying, “This woman has survived lung cancer, a difficult marriage, a head-on collision with an intoxicated motorist, and an attempted suicide. She has survived in ways that give credence to miracles and angels.”

Johnson praised first responders but did not provide any specific details about the event. “Thank you LAPD & LAFD for being so caring & focused,” he concluded. “Thanks for staying on phone and talking me thru it all.”

He went on to say: “I got one parent left, so if you still got your mom and dad make sure you hug ’em hard, cos you never know when you’ll get that 3am call we never want to get.”

Johnson has long extolled the virtues of his mother and posted endearing remarks about her on social media. He honored “Mama Rock” by sharing a heartfelt Instagram post in October 2020, the month of her 72nd birthday.

“We go down this unpredictable road of life and we never know what’s around the corner – so we do our best to treat every day for what it is – a true blessing,” he wrote in a letter. “And nobody better embodies that idea than my mother. She is a beautiful example of love, joy, and kindness since she has survived and lives life to the fullest every single day.”

In 2020, Rocky Johnson, a professional wrestler, passed away at the age of 75 from a pulmonary embolism.
