In an interview with Radio Marca, Getafe president Angel Torres revealed that forward Mason Greenwood will definitely leave Manchester United in the upcoming summer transfer windo

Greenwood grew up in the Carrington academy and had the opportunity to debut for Manchester United’s first team in 2018. The English star then had two relatively successful seasons for the Red Devils, scoring 33 goals in 122 appearances across all competitions before being suspended from playing due to allegations of sexual assault and assaulting his girlfriend in January 2022.

After more than a year of investigation, Greenwood was cleared of charges and returned to football. In the summer transfer window of 2023, the 2001-born forward signed a loan deal with Getafe for the entire season.

Despite a year and a half hiatus from competitive play, the English star maintained an impressive goal-scoring record with 8 goals and 6 assists in 29 appearances in La Liga.

In light of Greenwood’s outstanding form, the English media has been speculating recently that Manchester United are considering retaining the 22-year-old star at Old Trafford. However, according to recent revelations from Getafe president Torres, Greenwood is definitely leaving the Red Devils and will consider several offers in the upcoming summer.

“Last week, I received word that Man United will sell Greenwood; he’s almost no longer a United player and is happy at Getafe. Let’s wait for his decision as well as his family’s,” Torres said on Radio Marca. “I think he will stay at the club. He might wear the team’s shirt for another half or full year. Additionally, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is also very fond of Greenwood, as is Atletico Madrid. I’ve spoken with Deco and Laporta; they might sell some key players in the upcoming summer.”

Greenwood’s current contract with Manchester United runs until June 2025. The future decision regarding Greenwood’s career will now entirely depend on co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
